Precision measurements of the ¹²C(αγ) reaction with gamma beams and TPC detector(s)

The cross section of the 12 C(α,γ) 16 O reaction, well-recognized as most important nuclear input stellar evolution theory, has eluded precise measurements over last few decades, evident in lack confirmation an elementary prediction quantum mechanics E1-E2 mixing phase angle (ϕ ). More troubling are modern data, measured with 4π array HPGe detectors, that conflict this prediction. A new method to measure TPC detectors and gamma-beams, by measuring time reverse O(γ,α) C reaction discussed here, shows great promise, for example data do not disagree predicted π agree trend.
